The Property Council welcomes new member, Old Perth Port. We sat down with Bill Richardson and Bob Shields to learn more about the company.
Q: How long has your company been operating in Perth/WA?
A: We have been operating in WA since 1986.
Q: What’s your core focus?
A: Commercial property investment and retail operations- food and beverage
Q: What are some of the major projects you company has been involved with recently?
A: Old Perth Port waterfront, adjacent to Elizabeth Quay
Q: What are the greatest challenges/opportunities facing your business at the moment?
A: Old Perth Port Property faces the twin challenges of keeping close to and supporting its tenants’ businesses as we all struggle in a dampened economic market, and at the same time, to maximise its own retail operations such as the Lucky Shag Waterfront Bar – which all face the same downward pressures on business turnover.
Q: If you could change one piece of state legislation to better your business, what would it be?
A: Remove transfer costs on all commercial and investment property.
Q: What are the biggest changes you have seen in the property industry in the past decade?
A: Data collection and reporting from several major operators has made our industry efficient, so that crucial investment decisions can be made.
