New home care guide and research releasedA new guide and accompanying research have been released to help retirement village operators make informed decisions about their entry into home care provision. The two publications by Ansell Strategic confirm that retirement villages are well placed to deliver personalised care and support services within their communities, once the home care reforms come into place on 27 February. The guide will allow retirement and independent living sector participants to make an informed choice about how they can facilitate or provide formal care to residents. It identifies the benefits and risks of becoming involved in formal home care delivery or partnering with other approved care providers.Cam Ansell, Managing Director of Ansell Strategic, says, “Despite the challenges that accompany the aged care reforms, this is an opportunity to create closer connections to residents and expand service breadth. “The changes will bring about new innovation in services and building design that will transform the retirement village sector as the baby boomers enter the market and are empowered to make choices.”Ben Myers, Executive Director – Retirement Living at the Property Council of Australia, says, “Due to many villages having a large number of residents who may require care on one site, the guide finds village operators will be able to save money on travel, spending more time with the client and delivering greater value than care delivered outside villages.”Villages co-located with residential aged care also have the opportunity to share staff and overhead costs, further driving down costs.”We encourage all operators still determining their strategies for home care delivery, or wanting more information on the home care reforms, to download the guide and research.Delivering Home Care in Retirement Villages: A Guide for OperatorsDelivering Home Care in Retirement Villages: Research Report for Retirement Village Home Care Analysis Project
