New diversity policy announced by GPTAs part of a push to increase gender diversity in the property industry, The GPT Group has launched a new policy aimed at delivering best practice parental leave, childcare support and flexible working arrangements. The policy includes 16 weeks’ paid parental leave for all primary-carer employees with at least 12 months service; up to $00 to help meet the cost of childcare; and continuation of superannuation contributions during periods of unpaid parental leave.According to GPT’s head of people and performance, Phil Taylor, the policy will “push the property industry” as it seeks to attract top female talent.GPT has set a target of 40 per cent female representation in senior management positions by the end of 2015. Currently, 36 per cent of GPT’s senior management is female – up nine per cent over the past 18 months – and Taylor says the company is on track to meet its 40 per cent target.”Our new policies are designed to support our unique culture and flexible working environment to ensure we can sustain gender equality not just in our time, but for all time,” Taylor explains. The company also provides opportunities for employees to work from home, or for primary care givers to negotiate special working arrangements.”Our flexible approach to working is supported by our workplace technology and a culture that rewards employees on performance, not time spent behind a desk. You only have to look at the Group’s results to see that the approach is working.”The GPT Group is also part of the Property Male Champions of Change, which is spearheading the transition to greater gender diversity and more women in leadership position across the industry.
