New Consumer Affairs Minister announced
The Property Council congratulates the Hon. Marlene Kairouz MLA on her recent appointment as Victoria’s new Minister for Consumer Affairs, Gaming and Liquor Regulation.
Ms Kairouz was elected to Parliament as Member for Kororoit in 2008 and has served as Cabinet Secretary since the election of the Andrews Government.
The Victorian Division has raised the following portfolio related issues with the Minister, as matters of importance to our industry and the broader liveability of the State:
- Ensuring Victoria’s retirement village sector is nationally competitive;
- Reforming owners corporation regulation to safeguard all stakeholders’ interests ; and
- Closer engagement with industry on policy initiatives and reform.
An emphasis has been placed on the Aged Care Rule issue, to which we have long advocated a resolution. We encourage the Minister to support the work of the Department in bringing this matter to a close.
The Victorian Division thanks the former Minister for Consumer Affairs, Gaming and Liquor Regulation, the Hon. Jane Garret MLA, for her service to the State.
The Victorian Division continues to advocate for policies which facilitate a thriving property industry that creates prosperity, jobs and strong communities.
