New chair for the Planning Assessment CommissionFormer Australian Public Service Commissioner Lynelle Briggs AO was announced as Chair of the Planning Assessment Commission (PAC) on 2 October 2014.The PAC plays an important role in improving transparency and independence in planning and decision making process of the NSW government. It also provides independent, expert advice on planning issues to the Minister. The PAC Chair has an important role in balancing the needs of the community, the environment and the economy.Past roles undertaken by Ms Briggs include acting as a Deputy Secretary in the federal Department of Transport and Regional Services and acting as Chief Executive of Medicare. Ms Briggs is also a board member of the Australian Rail Track Corporation. She was made an Officer of the Order of Australia in January 2013 for distinguished service to public administration.Outgoing PAC Chair, Ms Gabrielle Kibble was paid tribute to by Minister for Planning Pru Goward for her service as Chair since 2008.
