nbn briefings hit QLD
Following the release of the Telecommunications Infrastructure in New Developments Policy by the Minister for Communications the Hon Malcolm Turnbull MP, the Property Council of Australia is holding exclusive member briefings across Australia.
Last week was Queensland’s opportunity to hear about the new policy directly from nbn co. Sessions were held in Brisbane, the Sunshine Coast and Townsville.
Members heard first hand about the elements of the new policy, including:
- Developers will continue to be able to choose carriers
- Developers will continue to meet the cost of pit and pipe
- Developers will be required to contribute to the cost of providing telecommunications infrastructure
- nbn is required to charge the Retail Service Provider (RSPs) a one-time charge of $300 to place an order for an nbn network service to premises in a new development.
- Provider of Last Resort Responsibilities will remain largely the same.
- Consistent with the multi-technology mix model, nbn will be able to select the technology it will deliver to your developments.
The nbn team has developed a short summary document outlining the key policy changes, as well as a snapshot of the services available to assist you through the process. A fact sheet providing details of the backhaul contributions can be accessed at the PDF link below.
If you have any queries about how the new policy affects existing or future development please contact your Account Manager or the contact centre 1800 OUR NBN or [email protected].
