Multi-Aged Precinct Set for Claremont on the Park
Blackburne’s proposal for a six-level apartment block, aimed at all ages, has been given the green light.
The project, in LandCorp’s Claremont on the Park development, has recruited Amana Living to offer its residents services, including dog walking, house-cleaning, ironing, babysitting and in-home care.
Blackburne Managing Director Paul Blackburne told the West Australian, the project, which incorporates a supermarket, cafe and Amana Living services on the ground floor, was designed to appeal to buyers of all ages.
“The project includes 143 apartments and six commercial tenancies,” he said.
Mr Blackburne said extra services, including medical help, washing and cleaning, would be offered on a pay-as-you-go basis.
“I think it’s really the way of the future,” he said. “It doesn’t matter if you are 20 or 80 ” it’s great to be able to walk across the road to the station and go to the city or to Fremantle. I’m sure this will be the project that wakes up the Perth market.”
Maria Davison, General Manager Home Care and Housing, Amana Living said this collaboration was a big step towards moving away from the current model where people must move to where aged care services are located.
This projects enables people to choose where they want to live, and the services will come to them,” she said.
“While many of the services on offer will be geared towards those over 65s, they will be available to all residents.
“Hotel style services, such as cleaning, laundry and handyman services will be available to all members.
“There will be a focus on care navigation, with professionals on hand to advise residents on what health services they may require, and we’ll even escort them to appointments if required.
“We’ll also have a range of allied health services, available to all residents including, physio, podiatry and chiro.
“Ultimately, it’s about creating choice, so seniors feel empowered to be able to prioritise maintaining their lifestyle, knowing their needs will be met,” Ms Davison said.
