Mott MacDonald wins 2017 Construction / Engineering South Australia award

Mott MacDonald and the University of Adelaide have won the Australian Institute of Project Management’s 2017 Construction / Engineering South Australia award for their work on Adelaide Health and Medical Science Building (AHMS).

Located in South Australia’s new Health and Biomedical Precinct on North Terrace, the AUS$246m AHMS is the largest capital works project in the university’s history. The building introduces ‘new generation’ spaces and design features including a world-class clinical research facility, hospital simulation suite, experiential teaching spaces, a flexible shared facility, modern laboratory spaces and an urban park.

Mott MacDonald acted as project manager contract administrator and oversaw project delivery including design, procurement, quality and risk management as well as contract administration (superintendent). Through a good understanding of the client’s core business requirements and priorities, the consultancy worked closely with The University of Adelaide to develop creative and innovative solutions to some of the more complex project challenges.

David Johnson, Mott MacDonald’s managing director for Australia and New Zealand, said: “We’re extremely proud of the work we’ve done on the Adelaide Health and Medical Science Building.  Despite the scope of works evolving during the design phase from 6 levels to 14, we were still able to deliver a high-quality project within the original timeframe required by our client.”
