Mentoring program to nurture future leaders

The WA Future Directions Committee continues work on preparing a redesigned mentoring program, aimed at providing an intense and rapid-fire networking opportunity for final year university students.

The mentoring program, which has become a regular fixture through the Property Council’s Future Directions initiative, has been re-designed this year to accommodate the COVID-19 pandemic and reflect the feedback of previous years’ participants. This comes at a time when the needs of university students seeking to enter industry have never been more difficult.

This year’s program will run over 10 weeks from late September to late November and include a rotational, meet-the-mentors style structure. Mentoring groups will be established and will be rotated with other mentors every three weeks after the launch week.

This will allow wider participation from a range of different professions working in the property industry and provide exposure for both mentors and mentees across a wide spectrum of like-minded people.

A focus on this year’s program is to broaden its audience across different universities and professions, as well as  build awareness of the job opportunities available in Australia’s biggest industry. This includes sourcing a diverse group of students, disciplines and mentors.
