Maroochydore PDA Development Scheme Amendment
The Property Council has provided feedback to proposed amendments to the Maroochydore Priority Development Area (PDA) Development Scheme.
The PDA covers 62 hectares and encompasses a largely undeveloped parcel of land, in State Government and Council ownership. The PDA also includes Sunshine Plaza, Maroochydore State School, Maroochydore Police Station, Maroochydore Magistrates Court and Big Top Shopping Centre.
Sunshine Coast Council has proposed the second amendment to the Development Scheme to ensure the PDA continues to develop in line with targets outlined in the South East Queensland Regional Plan.
The Property Council has expressed support for amendments within the package that increase the number of proposed residential dwellings from 2000 to 4000. An adequate supply of residential housing is important to ensure that housing affordability is maintained on the Sunshine Coast.
While the Property Council’s feedback supports the increased number of dwellings, the feedback has also called on Council to consider further residential development along this corridor, which will help reach the Sunshine Coast’s consolidation growth target, outlined within ShapingSEQ.
