MAJOR PROJECTS
This week saw the NTG announce a significant milestone that will pave the way for hundreds of construction and ongoing jobs for Territorians.
A Project Development Agreement (PDA) has been signed between the NT Government and the Paspaley Group to deliver a Ship Lift and Marine Industries Project at East Arm. This will create new employment and business opportunities in the Northern Territory and has been identified as one of Government’s five major projects that will boost the economy.
The proposed Ship Lift will include:
- A ship lift, capable of lifting vessels out of the water for dry docking and maintenance works, and;
- A common user area, being a hardstand area available and ship repair and maintenance works.
The Ship Lift will have the capacity to lift vessels more than 90 metres in length, including the new fleet of offshore patrol vessels being procured by the Australian Defence Force.
The PDA sets out the next steps for the design, development, construction and operation of the Ship Lift Facility. This includes a commitment for the parties to undertake a nine month program of detailed technical site specific works (Front-End Engineering Design (FEED Works)).
