Lunch at Jamie’s

Federal Minister for Cities Jamie Briggs has spoken in support of the Property Council’s push for an independent infrastructure body in WA.

In a meeting with Property Council WA Executive Director Joe Lenzo and Perth Lord Mayor Lisa Scaffidi, Briggs said that the federal government does not have an endless bucket of money, only projects that have a strong business case, are part of a long-term infrastructure strategy and have been assessed by the State’s infrastructure body and Infrastructure Australia will be considered.

Briggs also agreed that WA is behind other states with respect to having a properly established infrastructure plan.Briggs said WA should look to NSW for guidance. The state’s progressive State Government has developed and maintained an effective long-term infrastructure plan.

The Property Council will continue to push for Infrastructure WA to ensure the state infrastructure projects receive the fair share of funding.
