Liveability & Parking under review

With Perth’s reliance on cars and its high liveability rating, it is appropriate that two related government policies are now up for review.

Property Council of Australia will make a submission to the Dept. of Transport to offer advice on the Amendment of the Perth Parking Policy.

The current legislation has not been amended since being introduced in 1999. Since then, central Perth has seen significant changes including increased development, employment and alternative travel options, changed in development type as well as increased congestion.

Property Council will also make a submission to the Department of Planning making comment on the proposed Liveable Neighbourhoods policy.

The policy looks to create more functional, compact, healthier communities with a greater focus on walking, cycling and public transport has been released for public comment.

Planning Minister John Day said the Western Australian Planning Commission’s revised draft Liveable Neighbourhoods policy would guide the design of future communities in Perth and Peel and regional centres across the State.
