LGAs for 2017 valuations revealedThe Valuer-General has advised that 28 local government areas will be provided with new land valuations as part of the 2017 annual valuation program. The local government areas that will be subject to revised valuations are: Balonne, Barcaldine, Blackall Tambo, Brisbane, Bundaberg, Carpentaria, Cassowary, Central Highlands, Croydon, Gladstone, Gold Coast, Goondiwindi, Gympie, Ipswich, Livingstone, Logan, Mackay, Maranoa, Mareeba, Moreton Bay, North Burnett, Rockhampton, Somerset, Southern Downs, Tablelands, Townsville, Western Downs and Whitsunday. For local government areas that are not subject to new valuations, the most recent valuations will remain effective. It is the long standing policy of the Property Council that all Queensland local government areas should be annually revalued to ensure consistency and equity across the state. Given the effect that valuations have on state and local government taxes, it is imperative that there is a fair and uniform approach adopted across Queensland on a yearly basis.By establishing universal annual valuations, the State Valuation Service would negate any perception that the State Government’s revenue objectives guide the selection of which local government areas will be revalued.Further information on the valuations process can be found here.
