Leadership applauded at awards

Mirvac Group’s 8 Chifley has been named the Rider Levett Bucknall Australian Development of the Year, with Harry Triguboff and John Roberts inducted into the Australian Property Hall of Fame at the 2015 Innovation and Excellence Awards.

Mirvac Group’s 34-storey office building in Sydney’s CBD dominated the 2015 Property Council of Australia / Rider Levett Bucknall Innovation and Excellence Awards, winning three prestigious awards.

Property Council Chief Executive Ken Morrison says the building sets the benchmark for future offices that “drive cultural change, enhance collaboration and provide productive and healthy places for people.

“Mirvac has capitalised on the constraints of a relatively small site to design a ground-breaking building that delivers an extremely flexible working environment able to respond quickly to changing demands in the marketplace.”

Making their mark on skylines both in Australia and around the world, Harry Triguboff AO and John C Roberts AO were inducted into the Australian Property Hall of Fame.

According to Mark Steinert, the Property Council’s National President, both men “have made an outstanding and very tangible contribution to our cities, fundamentally improving how we deliver and innovate landmark projects.”

Triguboff and Roberts join an exclusive group of nine other property giants: Ervin Graf OAM; Bruno Grollo AO; Rino Grollo; John Gandel AO; Stan Perron AM; Sir John Pidgeon; Dick Dusseldorp AO; Frank Lowy AC; Ray Powys AM.

Other award winners include Grocon’s Capital Transactions manager, Matthew Berg, who was presented with the du Chateau Chun Award for Future Leader of the Year.

Lend Lease and specialist sub-contractor A.G. Coombs Group were presented with the KONE Award for Innovation for their work to develop new prefabrication construction standards at Sydney’s Barangaroo, which will reduce safety risks and improve productivity.

The 2015 Property Council of Australia / Rider Levett Bucknall Innovation and Excellence Award winners were announced at a gala dinner on Friday 1 May. A full list of winners is available online.
