LAUNCH OF HOUSING CHOICES DISCUSSION PAPER

This week, ACT Executive Director Adina Cirson helped launch the ACT Government’s Housing Choices Discussion Paper, with Minister Gentleman, the ACT Government Architect and Ben Ponton, Director General of Environment Planning and Sustainable Development Directorate.

The paper is a comprehensive look at what Canberrans want in terms of housing choice, what they think about where they live and their community – raising some important questions about how we can all help deliver quality, sustainable, affordable and diverse housing types.

The paper contains demographic and research findings about what Canberrans want in the housing market and canvasses options to review our city’s residential zoning for the first time since 2003.  It also calls for demonstration projects to showcase innovative housing design, which seek to test of policy direction using real projects – ensuring we meet the needs of our growing and changing city.

The Property Council will be well engaged throughout the consultation (which ends in March 2018) and our committees will provide a formal submission.
