Jemma’s journey rewarded with WA Village Manager of the Year

Perth retirement village manager Jemma Viney has been recognised for her outstanding achievements, taking out the Western Australia Programmed Retirement Village Manager of the Year award.

Jemma has worked for Masonic Care WA for 7 years, progressing from administrative support to the role managing Masonic Care’s largest village, Forest Lakes Lifestyle Village.

In addition to her village role, Jemma also helps induct new retirement village managers into the organisation, and developed systems and processes to help ensure all villages run smoothly.

Jemma has ensured the 184 residents of Forest Lakes are safe and secure, organising for fire safety education sessions, establishing volunteer fire wardens and implementing plans to assist less mobile residents.

She has instigated an ongoing painting program to improve the appearance of the village and established a gardening committee of residents so they can play an active role in how their village looks and feels.

Forest Lakes resident Ian Gudgeon says Jemma demonstrates a great level of care for the village residents.

“My wife and I have seen first-hand how decisively and quickly Jemma acts in an emergency situation, requiring police to be involved. This is comforting to residents, to know in a crisis Jemma will act in a way that resolves situations quickly and correctly,” says Ian.

Jemma received her award in front of industry leaders at a Property Council of Australia forum on 5 October.

She now enters the running for the National Programmed Village Manager of the Year award, to be presented on the Gold Coast on 27 November.

The Village Manager of the Year is proudly presented by Programmed Property Services. Programmed is a long-time supporter of the award and its recognition of outstanding retirement village managers and their vital role in creating happy, healthy and harmonious communities.
