Interstate Hotspot Arrivals Paused

An immediate pause on interstate hotspot arrivals into Queensland’s hotel quarantine was put in place from 12pm (midday) 25 August until 12pm (midday) 8 September, due to hotel capacity issues. However, the pause will ease from Saturday, September 4, allowing Queenslanders to return from interstate hotspots in limited numbers.

Queensland’s returning residents (prior to 4 September) and those intending to relocate to Queensland who have been in a hotspot in the last 14 days or since the identified start date (whichever is shorter), will not be allowed to enter Queensland, without an exemption. Exemptions will only be granted in extreme exceptional circumstances.

For returning Queensland residents, starting Saturday, September 4:

  • additional hotel rooms will become available
  • These additional rooms will be given to returning Queenslanders or people relocating to Queensland who have been prioritised for early entry
  • More will be offered as they become available
