The Department of Infrastructure, Local Government and Planning has released interim Development Assessment Rules and Minister’s Guidelines and Rules to accompany the new planning legislation, which will come into effect in mid-2017. These interim instruments will be subject to a statutory consultation period – the dates of which will soon be available from the Department’s planning reform website. The Property Council has worked closely with the Department on developing the new planning legislation and supporting instruments, and will lodge a further submission on the interim Rules during the consultation period. A Practitioner Briefing has also been run by the Department to outline the key elements of the new system and how practitioners will be supported.
