Industry welcomes action on climate changeAs one of the Government’s Queensland Climate Adaptation Strategy Partners, the Property Council has today welcomed the release of the Queensland Climate Adaptation Strategy (Q-CAS) and the Queensland Climate Transition Strategy (QCTS).Property Council Queensland Executive Director, Chris Mountford, says the strategies provides much needed assurance on the Government’s policy direction on the complex issue of climate change.”The Q-CAS acknowledges that adapting to a changing climate is not only the responsibility of government, it also requires the input of communities and industry across different regions and sectors,” Mr Mountford says.”Over a period of four years, the Property Council has worked with the Partners group to assist Government in identifying the critical components required in developing an effective adaptation strategy for the state.””We look forward to continuing to work with Government and other Partners to develop the more detailed ‘Built environment and infrastructure sector adaptation plan’, which will provide a pathway forward for these important sectors of the economy.”The QCTS, released in conjunction with the Q-CAS, sets ambitious targets for the state to transition to a low carbon future.”Significant Government, industry and community change will be required to meet these targets over the coming decades, and the Property Council looks forward to seeing further information on how each of the 28 actions in the QCTS will be implemented,” Mr Mountford says
