Industry Responds to The Spit Master Plan Options
The Property Council has provided a submission in response to the State Government’s ‘Spit Master Plan options report‘, expressing the need for building height limits and transport connectivity to be resolved in the impending draft master plan.
The consultation is the latest step in the ongoing master planning process for The Spit – Gold Coast, an initiative strongly supported by the Property Council as a means of resolving existing and future infrastructure and land use planning issues.
72 options for The Spit’s future development have been canvassed in the report, including extensive public space improvements to the top of The Spit, expansions of low-rise boutique mixed use development, an ocean-side cruise ship terminal, and diving and ecotourism opportunities on Wavebreak island.
A draft master plan is expected to be released for public comment in early 2019, with the plan expected to be finalised in mid-2019. Statutory provisions to give effect to the master plan are due to be in place by August 2019.
