Industry backs in property campaign
Last week, the Property Council launched its national Creating for Generations. The campaign covering all types of media is being heavily supported by Property Council members.
The community-facing campaign highlights the scope of the property industry, and its role as Australia’s biggest generator of jobs and economic activity.
The Property Council’s chief executive Ken Morrison says one message lies at the heart of the campaign.
“Property is the biggest provider of jobs in Australia. We create vital community assets and help shape the future of our cities.
“This campaign highlights our industry’s unique contribution to Australia – and the positive feedback we have received from our members and the broader community tells us the message is getting through,” Morrison adds.
“Property makes a vital contribution to jobs and communities – and we will continue to celebrate this contribution through our campaign.”
Billboards and digital screens at airports, in office towers and CBDs, radio, regional and Sky TV ads as well as coverage in every major newspaper and a flurry of social media activity has driven home the message throughout the nation.
“Property sector now nation’s biggest employer” heralded The Australian, while the Daily Telegraph told its readers why the “property industry proves top employer”.
Property Council members are embracing the campaign’s positive messages and are helping to tell the industry’s story with more than a thousand visits to the campaign toolkit page to download collateral.
Capital Airport Group supported the campaign with advertising on the airport’s new digital billboard, putting the campaign message front and centre for federal parliamentarians heading back to the national capital over the weekend.
Head of property Richard Snow says his company is “thrilled” to be supporting the initiative, and points to the jobs created on projects currently underway at the airport.
“Our 3 Molonglo Drive project at Brindabella Business Park alone has created employment for around 0 construction workers, 80 engineers and more than 1,000 other jobs in ancillary industries,” Snow says.
“Property is such a diverse industry. It’s great for the public to get more of an insight into the broad range of skills needed to bring good quality building projects to fruition,” Snow says.
Another big supporter is recruitment company Hudson.
“With the property industry now firmly recognised as Australia’s biggest employer, it made perfect sense that Hudson lend its support to this campaign,” says Hudson’s Amrish Jusrut.
“Many people didn’t know just how big the industry is, and how just how diverse we are. Our co-branded LinkedIn post alone received over 1,0 views within 24 hours.”
Kylie Rampa, Lendlease’s CEO of property and the Property Council’s national vice president, emphasises the campaign’s role in community engagement.
“It’s important for people to understand how our industry works to shape the future, helping people access housing that’s affordable and creating cities with good infrastructure, jobs and services that make them more liveable,” Rampa says.
Stockland’s managing director and CEO Mark Steinert, whose support includes posters in the company’s many shopping centres, agrees.
“I feel very proud to be a part of an industry that directly contributes to the livelihoods of individuals and families around the country, and plays a significant role in shaping our cities and communities,” Steinert says.
“This important campaign helps tell the story of our contribution to Australia’s prosperity and our desire to create liveable, affordable and connected communities for people.”
While companies are throwing their support behind the campaign, many individuals are also weighing in by sharing their passion for property.
“We actually make a difference to people’s day to day lives and the economy,” says Ashwini Sharma, Hendry’s regional manager.
“I love working in an industry that supports diversity, career development and growth,” says Brookfield Properties’ finance manager Christina Chi.
