Illawarra Retirement Lunch

The Illawarra Chapter of the Property Council hosted an ‘Illawarra Retirement Lunch’ on 23 August. A range of organisations and representatives of the industry attended the event including local senior living and aged care providers, local councils, architects, project and construction managers.

With one in four people aged 65 and over in the Illawarra region, the need for high quality and age appropriate housing has never been more vital for this demographic group. The event raised awareness and opened conversations about the challenges and opportunities facing this sector in the region and showcased a range of development models for senior living communities in the Illawarra.

The event also included an insightful keynote presentation from Jeremy McKinnon – Senior Manager, MacroPlan Dimasi and a panel discussion from some of the leaders in the industry across the region including Professor Alison Jones – Deputy Vice Chancellor (Health & Communities), University of Wollongong, Leanne Taylor – Executive Leader Strategic Innovation and Development, Warrigal and Stig Andersen – Communities CEO, IRT.
