How does your building’s water performance stack up?
The Waterwise Office Program provides Perth building owners and managers with information to compare their water use with other similar buildings to assess whether water could be saved in their building.
The program is delivered in partnership by Water Corporation, City of Perth and the Property Council and provides participating buildings with recognition as a bronze, silver, gold or platinum Waterwise Office based on their water use performance.
197 St Georges Terrace, owned by GDI Property Group and managed by Colliers International, was one of the first buildings to be recognised as a platinum Waterwise Office as part of the program. Platinum recognition is considered to be best practice water use performance in a commercial office building.
Some of the water efficiency initiatives that have been implemented in the building include;
- dual flush toilets
- smart flush motion sensor urinals
- waterwise plants
- tenant education through the Mill Green web portal
- a cooling tower management plan
- replacement of chillers to improve efficiency
- water meters to separate and monitor water use of cooling towers and retail shops
Colliers International Operations Manager, Ben Hughes said,
“The water industry and our buildings water system are inextricably linked to the environment. Colliers International Building Management understands that the owner and occupants of the building expect a well-managed quality system ensuring our precious water resource is monitored throughout our supply and drainage infrastructure.”
GDI Property Group’s Asset Manager Paul Malek said the achievement demonstrates the Group’s ability to refurbish buildings to achieve outstanding sustainability results and are proud to be associated with the Waterwise Office Program in WA.
