Housing Data Dashboard launched
Our national advocacy team had a win recently, with the Federal Government launching a new housing data dashboard for public use. The dashboard, created by Treasury and the Australian Institute of Health and Welfare, displays data including information focusing on a range of metrics around housing affordability, homelessness, construction and dwelling approvals.
The data provides a snapshot of housing market conditions with the aim of providing a source of truth that will stimulate broader discussions around housing policy. It can be used as a tool to focus on the national market, state markets, as well as looking at particular housing conditions at local government level.
The dashboard was created in consultation with the Property Council, which offered up its Data Room model to help create the new tool. Our national team advocated strongly to expand the scope of the new dashboard to ensure it captured a range of different key indicators.
Members are encouraged to visit the dashboard here to see what it has to offer, with feedback about its usefulness and functionality welcome.
