Hit the BricksHit the Bricks, a program designed to place art in the heart of inner-city Newcastle, is on again. During its first run last year it created enormous interest and generated overwhelmingly positive feedback. This time around, the focus is on Wickham.Despite being a few weeks away yet, the attached image shows another amazing mural which has just popped up at Wickham Station. More local artists will be brightening up the city’s streetscape over 5 days later this month. The Halfstars Street Art Carnivale is being organised by Mo Creative, a local mural business changing the way we look at drab and vandalized areas. Their aim is to work with public and private entities to create imagery and turn it into artistic reality. The basis is to include community input and involvement with the help of national renowned graffiti/street art figures.Together with Innercity Winemakers, GLOW and Up&Up they are presenting a 5 day festival starting on 17 September, featuring the service lane between Throsby & Church being made over as well as a site just to the entry on Union St.Over the weekend of September 20th and 21st, there will be a street party atmosphere with live DJ’s performing while the artists paint their murals for all to see.Further details are available here.
