High speed rail for Badgerys Creek Airport

The Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull has committed the Federal Government to constructing a high-speed Western Sydney rail link to connect the CBD to the Badgerys Creek Airport. The rail line will not only service the new airport but will provide an additional transport link for Western Sydney.

Mr Turnbull has asked planners to consider options that would allow the rail link to be in service by the time the airport opens in 2026. Mr Turnbull would like the rail link to be operational as close to the airport’s opening as possible as it is critical to attracting carriers to the airport.

The Property Council supports the need for infrastructure to provide links to Western Sydney.

By 2036 nearly half of Sydney’s population will live in Western Sydney. With its growing population Western Sydney needs employment generators and infrastructure investment to provide for local employment.
