HIBERNIAN PLACE SPARKS PERTH’S EAST END
The opening of the Westin Hotel in Hibernian Place last week represents a key milestone in the delivery of a revitalised East-end for the City of Perth.
A focus on the east-end is the purpose of the Historic Heart project, which looks to reinvigorate this critical gateway to the city and bring back its vitality for residents and tourists. BGC Development, developers of Hibernian Place, are a key partner of the project and are heavily engaged in bringing the vision of the project to life.
“Perth’s East-end is home to a rich concentration of tourist attractions, culture and arts venues and one of the greatest collections of heritage-listed buildings in the city. The Historic Heart initiative is adding to this offering by improving the local aesthetic, promoting vibrancy and encouraging more people to visit, explore and stay in the area” said Ross Catalano, Development General Manager, BGC Development.
“As the developer and project manager of Hibernian Place, whilst we will develop a fantastic property in our own right, we want to ensure that the positive experience of our guests and patrons extends beyond our site boundary into the local area and community. We consider our investment and role in Historic Heart as a commitment to lead and encourage other like-minded land owners, business operators and residents to improve the local area and promote its unique identity.”
The jewel in the Hibernian Place crown is The Westin Perth, which opened to great acclaim last Friday. The signature restaurant, Garum by Guy Grossi, is located in the restored heritage-listed Hibernian Hall, and the wider precinct has a carefully curated mix of tenants with wellness for guests being top priority. The tenancy includes Bodhi J Wellness Spa and a large-scale fitness centre, Hadiqa rooftop bar by Andy Freeman, Melbourne’s Huxtaburger (all now open), and Offshoot coffee roasters by Mary Street Bakery and Arthur & Co. all day eatery (both due to open by mid-May).
“The BGC Development team was very aware that the success of Hibernian Place would largely be underpinned by curating the right tenancy mix”, said Mr Catalano.
“The vision for Hibernian Place was to offer a very Perth-specific social hub that is truly useable and relevant for everyone, both locals and visitors”.
Everything at Hibernian Place has a purpose and is designed to be enjoyed, every space is immersive and personal. The intent was to create and deliver something for Perth and its East-end that represented the next generation of 5-star offerings, both from an Australian and international perspective. The opening last week certainly achieved this.
