Helping Support the Townsville Community
The Property Council has been working to assist the people of Townsville and the properties, businesses and homes that have been affected by the devastating floods that have gripped North Queensland in recent weeks.
The Property Council is a member of the Government’s recently-established Small Business Advisory Committee, which has been created to provide substantive help to businesses in Townsville and the surrounding areas, once the immediate relief is over.
Businesses are encouraged to visit the Small Business Recovery Centre in Townsville for advice on issues relating to Disaster Recovery Funding Arrangements. The Centre is open daily and located at 143 Walker Street Townsville. For more information contact 1300 654 687.
Category B disaster assistance has been activated with concessional loans of up to $2,000 and essential working capital loans of up to $100,000. Further category B and C disaster assessments are being progressed and, if these are activated, a series of grants and concessions for Council, residents, community groups and small businesses will be released.
A fact sheet on the Natural Disaster Relief and Recovery Arrangements (NDRRA) funding can be accessed here.
The Hub also contains essential IT support services, and local, state and federal agents will be on site to provide first-hand advice.
In Brisbane, the Property Council has undertaken fundraising efforts to help those affected by the floods. Our first three events of the year have provided guests with the opportunity to donate towards this worthy cause.
