Health + Property Breakfast

Minister for Health and Ambulance Services, the Hon Cameron Dick MP, outlined the role that the property industry will need to play to meet the health service challenges facing Queensland at the Property Council’s Health+Property Breakfast on 6 October.

The Health Minister expressed that the demands of a growing and ageing population was a ‘challenge not a burden’ for Queensland’s public health infrastructure. In order to meet this challenge, the Minister explained, the Government would require private sector knowledge and investment.

Sunshine Coast University Hospital, and other new health-orientated developments, were highlighted by the Minister as the next generation of health service delivery. Herston Quarter was promoted as a similar exciting opportunity for the development of a new health and research focused mixed-use precinct. The Minister outlined that these projects are not only community assets but significant economic drivers.

The Minister expressed support for property industry-led development of new health assets, defining these outcomes as consistent with the Queensland Government’s new ten year strategy for the state’s health system.

The Property Council thanks Minister Cameron Dick for sharing his insights on the space where property and health overlap. The Property Council would also like to thank Lendlease for their sponsorship of the Health + Property breakfast.
