Guidance for development in Bushfire prone areas

GUIDANCE FOR DEVELOPMENT IN BUSHFIRE PRONE AREAS 

The State Government has released guidance material to help local governments better plan for development in bushfire-prone areas. 

The guidance material: 

  • reflects the 2009 Victorian Bushfires Royal Commission and Malone Review recommendations;

  • supports the implementation of the State Planning Policy and the interpretation of the state interest; and

  • provides assistance to local government in making or amending planning schemes and in the assessment of development applications where the state interest has not been appropriately integrated.

The Queensland Fire and Emergency Services has prepared the Bushfire Resilient Communities supporting document. This document contains technical advice and information including mapping methodology and how to complete a bushfire management plan for development in bushfire-prone areas.
