Green Growth Plan: Have Your Say

The Property Council welcomes the State Government’s decision to simplify the WA environmental planning approval process with the announcement of the proposed Green Growth Plan.  The draft plan is open for public comment and members are welcome to provide comments to the Property Council’s submission.

At the strategic level the draft Perth and Peel Green Growth Plan for 3.5 million is very positive and important for the property industry as it should deliver more certainty and streamline the environmental approvals regime. It would also remove the need for separate approvals from the State & Federal government agencies.

The plan provides for:

  • an additional 170,000 hectares of new conservation reserves
  • the establishment of a Peel Regional Park and Peel Harvey marine management area
  • measures to improve management of threatened plant and animal species and significant wetlands
  • introduction of mandatory soil testing to reduce nutrient runoff into coastal plain catchments.

The State Government is seeking public comment on the draft Plan.  The Property Council’s planning, residential development and industrial property committees are helping with a submission and members are welcome to also provide comments.  Please contact David Moore-Crouch on 08 9426 1203.
