Gold Coast City Plan Amendments Submission
The Property Council has responded to three draft update packages to the Gold Coast City Plan, supporting a number of the proposed changes while flagging some areas for further consultation.
New provisions for small lot housing, which provide for a moderate increase in the number of locations where 400m2 lot subdivisions are to be allowed, were supported by the Property Council. Although, it was noted that more will need to be done to reach the Gold Coast’s 2040 urban consolidation target of 80 per cent of new growth.
Further consultation was recommended with affected landowners on the assumptions underpinning the proposed changes to flood overlay mapping. The updated maps incorporate the 0.8m sea level rise estimates established as the standard to be used by the State Government in 2015.
While supporting the formal adoption of the transitional Local Government Infrastructure Plan, the Property Council strongly encouraged Council to expedite the next review of the LGIP.
