Global Cafe brings big ideas to Brisbane

Brisbane City Council and the Queensland Government have partnered to launch an impressive line-up of Australian and international speakers for the Brisbane Global Café.

The Brisbane Global Café will take place on November 12 and 13 as a precursor to the G20 Leaders Summit, and will focus on five key themes: improving human life, powering future economies, innovation in the digital age, tourism’s new frontiers and cities of the future.

The line-up features more than 70 speakers, including one of the world’s leading scientific minds, Michio Kaku and international digital identity Alexis Ohanian, who will take part in a global interactive discussion on November 12.

Across each of the sessions other speakers include:

  • Alan Berube, Senior Fellow and Deputy Director – Brookings Institution Metropolitan Policy Program
  • Dr Kathleen Pike, Professor of Psychology in Psychiatry and Epidemiology Columbia University Medical Center.
  • Kongjian Yu – Founder and Dean of the Graduate School of Landscape Architecture at Peking University.
  • Pansy Ho, Managing Director – Shun Tak Holdings Limited, a conglomerate listed in Hong Kong with core businesses in property, transport, hospitality and investments.
  • Sy Lau, Senior Executive Vice President – Tencent 
  • Josh Lerner, Professor of Investment Banking – Harvard Business School and head of the Entrepreneurial Management unit.
