George Street traffic changes between Hunter and King Streets
In building towards Sydney’s Light Rail future the next phase of construction will commence on George Street, between Hunter and King Streets, from 10pm on Friday 1 July 2016.
The following changes will be implemented during this work:
George Street will be closed to general traffic between Hunter and King Streets. A single southbound lane will be open to local traffic, construction and emergency vehicles only.
-
There will be no left turn from Hunter Street into George Street – emergency, construction and local access vehicles excepted.
-
George Street will now be closed to general traffic between Hunter and Park Streets.
-
A single northbound-only lane will remain on George Street, between Grosvenor and Alfred Streets, and between Margaret and Bridge Streets. This lane will be closed to general traffic on weekends between June 2016 and November 2016, due to intersection work.
Access to buildings, driveways and pedestrian footpaths will be maintained. Cyclists are required to dismount before entering the construction zone. Access for local traffic and emergency services will be maintained at all times.
Motorists are urged to allow extra travel time, use alternative routes, and avoid driving in the area during the AM and PM peak. For the latest information on traffic conditions, visit livetraffic.com or download the Live Traffic NSW App.
