Future Leaders Mentoring Program a Runaway Success

Future Leaders Mentoring Program a Runaway SuccessThe Property Council’s first WA Future Leader Mentoring program has had strong start and has hit all the right notes for participants. The program, led by the Future Directions Committee, kicked off in August with 16 industry leaders pairing with students and recent graduates to share their experience and industry insights and possibly open a few doors for the young property hopefuls. As the program reaches the half-way mark, we checked in with some of the participants to see how things are tracking: “My mentor couldn’t have been a better match – he is exactly the type of role model I want to follow and our relationship has progressed on the path that suits us both. I’ve been invited to attend the Property Council retail committee meeting and to do some work experience in January with my mentor’s team.””I had taken part in other mentorship programmes before but this was the first time I had ever heard of a mentorship for property people. My mentor has been everything I had hoped for previously, setting homework, introducing me other people in the industry.””I’d love to take part again next year, if I can.” – Cynthia Evfrosinis, University of Western Australia. “Subsequent to our first meeting at Southlands Boulevarde shopping centre on August 10, my mentor has taken me on tours through a number of Lendlease assets. These meetings have been very beneficial by way of exposure to three vastly different centres in terms of their size, product offerings, and overall shopping experience. I have also gained a greater level of understanding as to what my mentor’s role as a Centre Manager entails, which is far more engaging and diverse than I had initially thought it to be.””I’ve also been undertaking work experience at CBRE. This has included some time spent within the Residential Valuation Division at CBRE’s Perth office, where I have sat in on the monthly meeting of all division’s valuers, and taken part in a morning of property inspections.””My introduction to CBRE is a result of my mentor’s effort and involvement in the program which I am grateful for.” – Christian Pasovsky, Curtin University.
