Free member briefing – CBD construction update
In the CBD construction is underway from Circular Quay to Liverpool Street. Work commenced in three sections during July – Zone 4 (George Street between Hunter and King Streets), Zone 7 (George Street between Park and Bathurst Streets) and Zone 8 (George Street between Bathurst and Liverpool Streets).
A new construction compound has been established at the paved area beneath Cahill Expressway near George Street, to support the construction of the light rail. The compound will be used to store materials and provide amenities for construction staff.
In Zone 4, George Street between Hunter and King Streets, traffic arrangements have changed as utility works are now underway. Traffic now enters and exits George Street via Hunter Street. Angel Place is closed from George Street and access is only available via Pitt Street. The exit for No. 1 Martin Place has temporarily closed, with vehicles to enter and exit via Pitt Street.
Construction in Zone 9, George Street between Liverpool and Goulburn Streets is planned to start from 19 August 2016.
Weekend utility work will continue on George Street between Grosvenor and Bridge Streets on weekends from 10pm Friday to 5am Monday. For more details click here.
On 23 August 2016 we will also be holding a free member briefing from Marg Prendergast, Coordinator General, CBD Coordination Office. The CBD Coordination Office was established a year ago to manage the significant development and construction occurring across the Sydney CBD. This briefing will provide an update on future development and construction projects and outline how the office is working with businesses in the property sector to ensure that the city remains open and accessible.
