Free Brisbane Buses for Christmas

  • Free Festive Bus Fares will run over the two weekends preceding Christmas
  • The Property Council welcomes the initiative as a key measure to support Brisbane’s CBD
  • The Property Council will call for a similar incentive to support Summer in the City in the New Year

Brisbane City Council has announced its Free Festive Bus Fares initiative which will provide free buses over two weekends from Friday 10th through to Sunday 12th of December and from Friday 17th through Sunday 19th of December. The initiative will help bolster foot traffic for CBD retailers over the Christmas period.

The Property Council welcomes the announcement, having long advocated to both local and state government for an incentive around public transport to reactivate Brisbane’s struggling CBD. A key piece of feedback from the Property Council’s Fridays in the City campaign was that the cost of public transport was a major deterrent for people looking to come into the city centre.

The Property Council will continue to advocate for an extended public transport initiative in the New Year as part of our forthcoming Summer in the City campaign.
