Flood studies updated by BCC

Brisbane City Council has recently completed a range of new flood studies for priority creek catchments.

The studies form part of Council’s commitment in response to the Queensland Floods Commission of Inquiry and Council’s January 2011 Flood Action Plan– to complete top priority creek flood studies by June 2015.

The following creek catchment studies were completed by a Registered Professional Engineer of Queensland, and have been peer reviewed:

  • Albany Creek
  • Breakfast Creek
  • Brighton Creek
  • Cabbage Tree Creek
  • Norman Creek
  • Oxley Creek
  • Wynnum Creek
  • Stable Swamp Creek

A further seven studies are anticipated to be completed by the end of 2014.

These studies are currently being analysed by Council to identify potential updates to the Flood Awareness Maps, FloodWise Property Report and the Flood Planning Areas of the Flood Overlay Map in the Brisbane City Plan 2014.

The data is yet to be adopted by Council and may or may not be reflected in future planning instruments.

The data is available for reference purposes in hard copy in the Brisbane Square library, and by electronic copy on request.
