Queensland Premier announces $771 million flood recovery package

  • $741 Resilient Residential Recovery package announced
  • $30 m support for local governments and state agencies
  • Request lodged for / funding split between Qld and Federal GovernmentThe Queensland Premier has announced $771 million in disaster assistance in response to the flood event across South East Queensland in late February. It comprises $741 million for residents who need to make their residential properties more resilient, as well as $30 million for councils and agencies to assist in the flood clean-up.

The Queensland Premier has announced $771 million in disaster assistance in response to the flood event across South East Queensland in late February. It comprises $741 million for residents who need to make their residential properties more resilient, as well as $30 million for councils and agencies to assist in the flood clean-up.

This announcement is in addition to the $558 million in funding announced earlier this month to assist small businesses, primary producers and not-for-profit organisations in their rebuilding efforts. Significantly impacted local government authorities also received additional payments to assist with rebuilding efforts.

  • House-raising
  • Voluntary buy-back of homes at high risk of future flooding

The Queensland Government will also increase its Category A Structural Assistance Grants from up to $14,684 to $,000 for eligible households. This will help residents rebuild significant structural damage to their residential properties.

The $30 million Clean-Up Package will assist Councils and other agencies remove the waste and debris from the flood event. This includes commercial, building and housing debris that is not normally eligible for reimbursement.

The Premier has made the offer to the Federal Government to provide : funding for this package.
