Fishermans Bend Vision releasedThe Property Council has welcomed the State Government’s recast vision for Fishermans Bend.The Government’s vision for Fishermans Bend is an exciting one, but more detail is required.There have been many bold visions for Melbourne that have failed due to a lack of detail hampering their realisation.The following five questions must be answered before November 2018 to ensure the Government’s vision lasts the distance.1. What will be the governance arrangements for the precinct? 2. What are the private and public funding mechanisms for delivering community infrastructure, public transport, social services, decontamination and open space? 3. What is the infrastructure delivery strategy and timetable? 4. What planning rules will determine development in the precinct? Will there be density targets? Will C270 apply? 5. What is the Government’s decontamination strategy?Providing a comprehensive answer to these five questions will be essential to providing confidence and certainty to industry to invest and act.The Property Council will be working closely with the Government to ensure the plan for Fishermans Bend has the support of industry.
