Expert Panel Releases Final Planning Reform ReportIn December 2014, South Australia’s Expert Panel on Planning Reform delivered its final report to the State Government. The Panel must be congratulated on the rigorous and consultative process it undertook, ably chaired by Bryan Hayes QC. Key recommendations from the report include establishment of a state planning commission and regional planning boards. Although there are many positive things about SA’s current planning system it is widely recognised that the system needs to be modernised. The Property Council of Australia (SA Division) strongly encourages the government to implement those recommendations from the review that will ensure a strategically focussed planning system, resulting in more certainty for investors/developers. The Property Council of Australia (SA Division) looks forward to working closely with the state government on the implementation of sensible planning reform in 2015 to ensure our members’ interests are represented, and that the system is modernised to ensure economic growth and prosperity in SA. The Property Council would like to express thanks to the Planning and Urban Design Committee and other members who contributed to the Property Council of Australia’s submission to the review.
