Executive Director’s Award 2014Property Council of Australia ACT Awards Night and Gala Ball 2014Executive Director’s Award 2014Chris Collins, Point Project ManagementEach year, it is my great honour to present the Executive Director’s award to a property professional who, alongside achieving excellence in his or her career, has made a significant contribution to Canberra’s industry by dedicating time and talent to the Property Council itself. One of the great thinkers of the nineteenth century, John Ruskin, once said that “quality is never an accident. It is always the result of intelligent effort.”The recipient of this year’s award is someone who has a personal and professional commitment to quality in everything that he does, and this commitment inspires his colleagues in the industry to strive for better and better results. This year’s winner, Chris Collins, is one of the Canberra Principals of Point Project Management. After serving as an engineering officer in the Royal Australian Navy, Chris transitioned to the private sector. Today, Chris is a highly-skilled technical project manager who works on extremely complex projects for the public and private sectors in the ACT.Chris combines his smarts – he’s a qualified mechanical engineer with an MBA in technology management – with exceptional people skills. This is a formidable combination, and explains why Chris is recognised as a trusted advisor for many in the industry. He is a valuable sounding board for everyone from his clients and colleagues through to his friends in the Property Council network. Chris has contributed as passionate and proactive member of the Property Council’s Economic Development and Infrastructure Committee since 2008, and we are very grateful for his positive, practical and thoughtful input.Chris provides a daily demonstration in commitment to quality, and it is my great pleasure to present him with the Executive Director’s Award for 2014.
