On 1 September a delegation of Property Council members was given the opportunity to tour Toowoomba’s historic CBD. Toowoomba is a city that is set to reap the rewards that Queensland’s rapidly growing population brings with it – and delegates were given the chance to understand this potential in fantastic detail.

The day started with an overview of proceedings giving delegates background on the players and factors that have been driving investment opportunities in Toowoomba.

Following on was a walking tour of heritage and historic buildings. This delivered key learnings on the potential and importance of repurposing existing heritage infrastructure and buildings.

Toowoomba is a city that is no stranger to reinvigorating and refurbishing old structures to maximise their potential. The sites visited included the Goods Shed; Mills Precinct; Foundry and Rowes Stores.

All of these examples provide context for the potential investment in similar projects that exist within Toowoomba.

This walking tour was followed by a lunch, with Toowoomba’s Mayor Cr Paul Antonio speaking to thank delegates for their attendance and to outline the huge potential for growth that Toowoomba has to offer.

After lunch followed a second walking tour of civic, public realm, accommodation and entertainment sites that are all primed for investment and work.

This part of the day saw delegates visit Grand Central, Civic Square, Town Hall, Waltons Stores, Carnival Lane, Longs Quarter and Bell Street Mall. Toowoomba is a bustling place with vibrant attractions and this site tour gave members a first-hand insight into what has been done and what is to come.

Thank you to Suburban Futures for supporting this site tour and to Toowoomba Region for facilitating this fantastic day out.
