In November 2021, the Queensland Government tasked an independent panel to review the role of developers in the building and construction industry.
On Monday 10 October, at a Property Council of Australia event, attendees were given the opportunity to hear directly from Alison Quinn, Chair of the Queensland Government Developer Review Panel on the status of the Developer Review.
Alison discussed the review to date, and several themes that have emerged from the vast stakeholder input including; the role of developers, the role financiers play in the overall development process and perceived conflicts that may arise throughout a development lifespan.
The findings from this feedback have been compiled into a report for review by Government. The final paper is set to be released publicly later this year, which will be immediately followed by a four-week public consultation period.
Thank you to Moderator Jim Demack, Partner at Gadens and panellists Lee Butterworth, Managing Director – Residential of Brookfield Properties and Matthew Raven, Partner at Gadens for offering further insight into the potential effects that this review may have on industry.
Without Host Sponsor Gadens these events would not be possible, and the Property Council thanks them for their continued support.
