Last week the Property Council welcomed nearly 500 attendees to the Hilton Hotel for one of the highlights of the annual event calendar “” the Property Market Outlook lunch.

Attendees heard from keynote Felicity Emmett – Senior Economist at ANZ who took a deep dive into the data that would determine how the property sector fared in 2023. Her presentation highlighted that while the sector would face significant challenges in the form of spiralling inflation and interest rate rises, Queensland was buffered from the most significant of these impacts due to high levels of interstate migration and investment.

Following her keynote Felicity was joined by industry leaders Dale Connor “” CEO at Lendlease, Ben Ellis “” Retail CEO at Charter Hall, Deborah Coakley “” General Manager Funds Management at Dexus and Don O”Rorke “” CEO at Consolidated Properties Group for a panel discussion.

The panel delved into the outlook for various property sectors including the residential, retail, industrial and commercial office markets. The discussion spanned key themes such as the growing focus of the big property players on Build-to-Rent, the challenges being posed by construction costs and how the momentum of the 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games had already piqued the interest of interstate and international investors.

A special thanks to all speakers, major sponsor Charter Hall and support sponsor K&L gates for making this event possible.
