The Property Council was delighted to host members and industry professionals at the Future Directions Half Time Rewind and for Cultural Awareness Training.
Cultural Awareness Training
The Queensland Diversity and Inclusion Committee hosted Cultural Awareness training on Friday 10 September, which was delivered by Johnny Briggs, Managing Director – John Briggs Consulting. Over the course of two hours our members were taken on an in-depth journey that has broadened their knowledge and understanding of the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander histories, people and communities. This was a great starting point for ongoing discussion and education in this space. The Property Council will be looking at further ways to support its members in actively encouraging diversity across the industry.

Half Time Rewind – Future Directions
The Property Council welcomed over 100 future industry leaders to the Grove to discuss an eventful last six months for the sector with industry veterans Bruce Harper, Raynuha Sinnathamby, and Luke Fraser.
The conversation at the event was coordinated by Future Directions Chair Tomas Lancini and Deputy Chair Sam Collins.
During the conversation, each panellist shared their insights into whether the changes that the industry had undergone over the last six months were here to stay.
Luke Fraser – Chief Executive Officer at Howard Smith Wharves discussed the future of CBDs and that the fundamental drivers that had led businesses to consolidate under one roof were still present. He also talked about the need to build ‘Brand Brisbane’ leading up to the Olympics to ensure that we captured the opportunity of being on the world stage.
Raynuha Sinnathamby – Managing Director of Springfield City Group spoke about her experiences travelling overseas and promoting Springfield. In her experience, the Olympics represented a generational opportunity to put Brisbane on the global map so overseas visitors and investors were aware that it wasn’t just a city ‘north of Sydney’.
Bruce Harper – General Manager Qld AVID Property Group discussed the challenges around the provision of residential land and how the way AVID designed homes had changed to respond to COVID. He also discussed the range of benefits that regional areas could look forward to in the lead up to the Olympics.
