Conflict, capital and cash rates are the talk of the commercial office sector.

As macrconomic factors continue to send ripples across the global economy and inflation continues to raise uncertainty at home, we sat down with the experts at our 2023 Commercial Office Half-Day Forum to cut through all of the noise.

At our inaugural half-day Commercial Forum, attendees got to hear from industry experts as they covered three key areas:

  • Tech Trends and the Office of the future
  • Toward Net Zero
  • Conflict, Capital and Cash rates

A common thread throughout all of the panel sessions was the important role that ESG is playing in this sector, from tenant experience to investor confidence, getting these settings right is of paramount importance.

Technology is a critical tool in enticing workers back to the office, but the enablement must focus on well-being, productivity and ESG to deliver the experience sought by workers.

As we march to Net Zero communicating with tenants should be at the forefront to assist in adaptation. Adam Murchie reminded us not to overcomplicate sustainability – keep it simple and embed it within your organisation.

There has been a dramatic shift in global markets, with Australia likely to experience the flow-on effect over the next six-months and there is some caution in the air around how swiftly the market will respond. Construction costs and the shortage of skilled labour are still challenges impacting the market “” and unfortunately, they look set to stay for some time.

In more positive news, there are certainly international investment interested in the market, albeit slightly cautions “” and as flagged at the outset ESG continues to be a clear priority when looking at investment.

Hearing from industry leaders Natalie Slessor, David Cannington, Julie Jankowski, Glenn Ralph, Adam Murchie, Davina Rooney, Adrian Pozzo, Bradley Norris and Frances Rex delivering three hours of knowledge and wisdom in engaging and through provoking discussions set the attendees up for the year ahead.
