Esplin takes the helmAdrian Esplin has taken the helm at Sarah Constructions as General Manager and will lead the South Australian owned and operated building contractor and construction manager into a new era of growth and development. Mr Esplin has been tasked with building Sarah Constructions’ market share in its specialist areas of retail, education, health and aged care while creating new opportunities in medium to high density residential developments. His appointment comes at a time of solid growth for the company. Group turnover has grown from $160 million to $180 million over the past financial year, with $125 million of work currently under construction. Sarah employs 365 South Australians and has created 75 new jobs since 1 January this year. “Sarah Constructions is nimble and dynamic with recognised capability across the fit out, refurbishment and new build sectors, ranging from minor works to larger projects up to the value of $100 million,” Mr Esplin said. “This places us in an ideal position to fill the void that has been created by larger contractors moving into the major project space. “There is lots of good work happening in the markets in which we specialise, giving us a solid base for leverage supported by the strength of our brand and long-term customer relationships. “Health and aged care are particularly strong following investment in the new RAH and SAHMRI hub as well as aged care organisations responding to the needs of the ageing population.”Retail has seen the entry of Aldi, Costco and Masters all looking to grow their South Australian footprints. Coles and Woolworths undertake ongoing refurbishment and renewal and we are seeing more privately owned shopping centres invest in expansion. “In the education sector Adelaide’s three universities continue to add to their capacity and maintain their infrastructure, while private schools are often raising funds for new facilities.”South Australia’s population is growing at a steady pace which, coupled with the State Government’s 30-Year Plan for Greater Adelaide, is creating new opportunities in medium-to-high density residential development.” An engineer by training, Mr Esplin has more than 20 years of experience in building and construction management, most recently as Regional Director for Brookfield Multiplex. He has a strong background in high density residential developments and has delivered a number of flagship South Australian retail projects including the Burnside Village Shopping Centre and Centro Colonnades redevelopments. “Adrian brings new energy to Sarah Constructions and will build on our proud tradition of long-term relationships and absolute customer satisfaction,” Sarah Constructions Joint Managing Director, Mr James Sarah, said. “South Australia’s construction industry is at a turning point. The Adelaide Oval redevelopment has generated momentum to accelerate redevelopment of the Riverbank Precinct and rejuvenate the CBD, creating real opportunities for our sector. “Adrian’s leadership will position Sarah Constructions to take advantage of these opportunities.”
