Embedded electricity network changes slatedThe Queensland Government has introduced a Bill to Parliament aimed at removing the requirement for electricity receivers to have access to the local distribution network in order to access retail market offers.The Electricity and other Legislation (batteries and premium feed-in tariff) Amendment Bill 2017 would also enable customers within an embedded electricity network to utilise the services of the Queensland Energy and Water Ombudsman.A commencement date of 1 December 2017 is proposed for these changes.The Bill also seeks to clarify when additional generation systems and electricity storage devices can be deployed in association with the Solar Bonus Scheme.The Parliament’s Public Works and Utilities Committee have asked for submissions by 5 July 2017. The committee is due to report back to Parliament by 11 August 2017.
